First, television viewing at Chez Vertriguez was revolutionized with TIVO last Christmas thanks to Dad and Jan. What a great invention! And yes, you can use TIVO to your little heart's content with just some rabbit ears and a love for the terrible network shows most people don't watch. And Jeopardy. Jeopardy! Being able to record that show every day is a godsend.
But now, ladies and gentlemen, the TV experience is revolutionized once again. I am proud to report...WE FINALLY HAVE CABLE! I have been cable-free since 2000. Wow...and didn't really miss much, truth be told. Who knows what we actually have in the way of programming though - Johnny doesn't remember what package he ordered (is that really surprising?). But the fact remains that we now have a bazillion channels to watch and record. Woo and hoo! So far it hasn't been totally awesome because we don't know all the shows to watch yet. It has been a couple nights of click-click-clicking the remote as we flip through channels which really sucks. We find something interesting and then a commercial comes and we are forced to change the channel again. We are used to watching shows we have already TIVO'd and bypass the commercials automatically. Anyhow, all in good time though, I say, all in good time. I will miss the rabbit ears decorating the top of the giant LCD flat panel with a piece of foil dangling from one antenna to get better reception on CBS...but not that much :)
I even hooked up the router and everything so we are all systems go! PC talking to the TIVO talking to the cable and all that hoo-ha!
Leave me your show suggestions so I can start to TIVO some good shit. So far I have of course added the requisite Project Runway and Iron Chef America which I already love and watch when I can at other peoples' cable-connected casas. But now I have my own cable. Yay. Leave me your recommendations!![]()

So let's see what I can recommend that you might enjoy, by day of the week:
Sunday- The Next Food Network Star/Food Network & Design Star/HGTV
Monday- I'll think on Monday
Tuesday- I guess I don't watch as much TV as I thought, I'm blank on Tuesday too.
Wednesday- So You Think You Can Dance/Fox, Project Runway and Sheer Genius/Bravo
Thursday- Myles of Style/HGTV, So You Think You Can Dance/Fox, Kathy Griffin/Bravo, Ace of Cakes/Food Network
Friday- I watch PBS on Friday nights, you had that already and some of it is local anyway.
Weeknights- An hour of Family Guy/Cartoon Network followed by Robot Chicken (it's only 15 minutes, you should TIVO it every night!)
I watch Last Comic Standing but you already have NBC but you already have Fox too and I just realized I listed that too.
since you got the tivo you don't even have to stay up late to catch all of adult swim, not just the robot chicken, worth it
I'll add a few (on CABLE Dave!).
I hate to admit it but I do enjoy the Soup on E. Chelsea Lately is great on E too. Chelsea's late night too, so we seem to be keeping that tivo busy overnight for you! TBS also shows re-runs everynight of the Office, I love that show and it makes me think of when Dave emceed our reunion, I think he would be like Steve Carell at work.
