You cannot let McCain own this issue! It is the fucking economy stupid! The Republicans made this mess and they cannot fix it. Your post-partisan shit with praising Reagan, dissing the accomplishments of the Clinton Administration, et al -- that makes people choose Democrats why exactly? Kill the ego. Kill the pride. Or lose the election.
So, let's see. Perhaps you try something like this:
"If you believe that the Republicans, who made this mess can fix it, then you believe that the iceberg could have saved the Titanic."
Or maybe some of this:
"But on the two great questions of this election -- how to rebuild the American dream and how to restore America's leadership in the world -- he (John McCain) still embraces the extreme philosophy that has defined his party for more than 25 years. And it is, to be fair to all the Americans who aren't as hard- core Democrats as we, it's a philosophy the American people never actually had a chance to see in action fully until 2001, when the Republicans finally gained control of both the White House and the Congress."
See what Bill says, their philosophy of 25 years was finally able to be enacted and this mess we are in now is what happened. No hopey-changey. We are right, they are wrong. Drive it home.
This post-partisan shit is a sure fire loser, always has been (sorry Mr. Trippi). There's no shady caucuses in red states we'll never win or the DNC to declare a winner in the general election.
