As of late team, I have been consumed with researching my family tree and I have also utilized a website designed to assist with such tasks that wants to charge me soon so I must get back to this before my free trial expires! To date I have discovered:
- On either side of my family, mother or father, I have to go back to the early 1700s or late 1600s to even get out of the state of North Carolina
- Prior to this, all were in Virginia
- I can trace both sides to Virginia, pre-Revolutionary War
- We just didn't seem to have much wanderlust
- The origins of those I have gone back that far on are from England, Wales and Scotland
- I did find one Frenchman who married a British woman on my mother's mother's side
- My ancestors have the best names ever, I plan on putting up a list soon of the best of the best. Southern names rule
- There were a lot of Parkers marrying Parkers on my father's mother's side, coincidence?
- The list of famous people I am somehow related to includes: Lyndon Johnson, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Judy Garland. My mother's father's history seems to contain a slew of famous people but most interesting to me is my father's mother's ties to Anna of Russia
So once the trial is over, I plan to be back in business as usual sans of course those damn distractions from my employer.
In the interim, I could never recommend this enough. Day after day, unimaginable intelligence.
